Minutes of the November 22, 2009 Town Council Meeting

Present: John Mitchell, Jeff VanWelden, Jim Stewart, Charles Illingworth, Brian Melchi, Pat Berger, Susie Sigo

Trash Collection-At last meeting, council rejected all the bids. We have some samples of specs for trash collection for the Town of Remington. Bidders will get their packets back via US mail-certified mail, or UPS. Toters are available in 64-32-or 96 gallon. We can opt for assorted sizes of toters if some residents prefer smaller ones. Question raised on if the town park dumpster is in the current Allied Waste bid? Looking at a February 1, 2010 start, with a month-to-month verbal agreement to continue with Allied Waste until a decision is made.

Items discussed for the spec on waste collection was to have a 1,2, or 3 year contract term. To allow pick up of one large item per week, use 96 gallon toters with other size options. Keep Thursday as the pick-up day. Require 1 million in insurance liability.

Does the town need dumpsters in the contract for the park or other locations? The overflow of toter needs to be picked up at no additional charge.

The council signed the Jasper Foundation Pass Thru account agreement for the new fire station.

Mike Coty will be asked for a new quote for the new office at the town hall by the December 7 meeting. Otherwise the council will proceed with existing quote.

The council was presented with a proposal for the old town hall building for a new heater for the water office and a spiral round duct. Council approved $1773.75 for the heater. By the next meeting, council has been asked to go look at the ductwork and make a decision about the spiral round duct. Motion by Jim Stewart, Second by Charlie Illingworth.

Meeting date was set for Monday, December 28, 2009 as the second town council meeting for trash collection bid to be finalized. Need to advertise next week. This meeting will also finalize 2009 claims.
