The annual Tri-County PTO Carnival was held last month on Saturday, February 19, 2011 in the Tri-County Middle Senior High School gymnasiums.  Games and raffles were in the main gym, and bounce games and Dance Revolution were in the auxillary gym.  The Student Council sold cotton candy, and the concession stand was open with a full menu including family meal deals.  Dippin' Dots ice cream treats were also on sale.

There were 22 classroom baskets that were raffled, as well as over 200 other raffles.  The Fantastic 15 prizes were announced shortly after 7:30 PM.  The Grand Prize winner of four 1-day hopper passes to Walt Disney World was Shaina Wilhite.

Some of the games included Lucky Ducky, Dino Dig, Bowling, Balloon Darts, Golf, Football Toss, Sandy Candy Art, and Basketball Toss. Other games were Cake Walk, Go Fish, The Outhouse, Ring Toss, Monkey Mail, Twister Penny Toss, Face Painting and Balloon Animals, Nail Painting, Bucket Toss, Book Bingo, Surprise Wall, Can Knock Down, Quarter Drop, Whirl Ball, Bank a Shot, Speed Pitch, Tic-Tac-Toe, and Hoopla. Most of the activities took two to four tickets, with tickets being five for $1.00. The classrooms receive the proceeds from the games.

A repeat event from last year, but very popular was the "Kiss the Pig" Contest. The children voted all week long for their favorite contestant with quarters for their votes. Voting continued during the PTO Carnival. The person with the most votes got to kiss the pig at the end of the carnival. The six competitors for votes were: Mr. Ulrich, Mr. Haskins, Mr. Gretencord, Mrs. Tyler, Mrs. Pritchett, and Dr. Gib Crimmins. The contestants wore black "Kiss the Pig" t-shirts for the carnival. Mrs. Pritchett was the "winner" of the contest and kissed the pig. The pig was provided by Mark and Mandy Taulman.

PTO Officers for 2010-2011 are:  Molly Marchand, President; Miranda Virkler, Vice-President; Karena Price, Treasurer; and Amy Wealing, Secretary.  These ladies were chairpersons of the four areas-raffles, games, food and set-up crew.
Thanks to the many volunteers and donors that made this event a great success!
